David Harber has installed the massive 1.4 tonne, 2.4m high and 4m long Aeon sculpture on the new waterfront terrace overlooking Dubai Creek and the breathtaking city skyline at Downtown Design 2018 in Dubai.
This is the first time David Harber has taken part in the show, an annual event that is part of Dubai Design Week. Downtown Design visitors can see David at an exciting panel discussion, The Art of the Space in Between on Wednesday 14th November.
Aeon was originally handcrafted for the Chelsea Flower Show in London from cast bronze patinated with a striking blue verdigris, and with a vivid nucleus of 256 gilded spikes. The form is reminiscent of an Evil Eye, a symbol often referenced in Middle Eastern culture
Aeon is a Limited Edition of five and is available for $175,000 including delivery and installation.
David Harber has several existing installations in Dubai.
These include a giant cube sculpture at Zabeel Park inspired by the region's connection with the game of chess; the Earth sculpture for a rooftop Earth Garden at Raffles Dubai; and an opulent Chalice water feature at the Four Seasons Hotel DIFC.
In the Gulf
The Gulf hosts many David Harber artworks.
A recent commission saw seven large custom sculptures dotted through Doha's new mixed use development and shopping mall Festival City.
Six of the sculptures are variations on David Harber's iconic Torus design. Shown here are a blocky Keystone Torus in verdigris bronze at a mall entrance and a geometric fractured Torus.
