M/Y Xanadu

CLIENT:Andrew Winch Designs, yacht designer

BRIEF:Design and manufacture an interior feature to complement the staircase which forms the focal point of this 60 metre Benetti built tri-deck super-yacht, named after a mythical land of beauty and pleasure.

SOLUTION: A 1 metre diameter sculpture based on a traditional globe seated in a bronze cradle, produced in close collaboration with the client. Featuring a stainless steel sphere with an applied metal patination and enamel finish, the sculpture is detailed to create a dynamic visual connection with the wrought-iron banisters of the staircase.

As a final touch, the mythical locations of Xanadu itself are picked out in 23¾carat gold leaf.
